Storage Tips
Proper storage is crucial to maintaining the quality of your wine. Store your Peace & Chaos wines in a cool, dark place with a consistent temperature, ideally between 45°F and 65°F. Avoid direct sunlight and vibrations, which can negatively affect the wine. Always store the bottles horizontally to keep the cork moist, ensuring a good seal.
Don’t fret if you do not have a dedicated ‘cellar’ in your house; you can create a similar environment in your basement or a closet without a heater vent that stays cool. For example, if you have a closet under your staircase, that is a great option!
Furthermore, if you do not have a wine rack that allows you to lay the bottles on their sides, simply use a box and place the wines top-down to keep the cork moist and free from the risk of drying out over time.
How to Open Bottles with Wax vs. Capsules
Opening a bottle can be an art in itself. For bottles sealed with wax, use the small knife on your wine key to cut around the wax seal at the top of the bottle, then remove the cork with a corkscrew. To help soften the wax, you can use your palm to rub the top of the wax; this friction creates enough heat to make the wax more pliable and easier to cut through. If the wax is simply a dollop on top of the cork, you can pop off the wax by using the knife on your wine key. For capsule-sealed bottles, simply cut below the lip of the bottle, remove the top portion of the capsule, and proceed with your corkscrew as usual.
Serving Temperatures
Serving your wine at the right temperature can significantly enhance its flavors and aromas:
- Affirmations Cabernet Sauvignon: Serve at room temperature, around 60°F to 65°F, to bring out its full-bodied richness.
- All Codes Red Blend: Slightly cooler than room temperature, around 55°F to 60°F, to balance its flavors.
- Gorgina Rosé: Best served chilled, between 45°F and 50°F, to highlight its crisp and refreshing qualities.
Decanting
Decanting can enhance the flavors and aromas of your wine, especially if you’re drinking our Cabernet Sauvignon at a young age. Pour the wine slowly into a decanter, allowing it to breathe before serving. This process helps soften tannins and release more complex aromas, enhancing your overall experience. See below for our decanting recommendations:
- Affirmations Cabernet Sauvignon: Decant for 45-60 minutes if the wine is less than 5 years old, and 15-30 minutes for 5-10 years old.
- All Codes Red Blend: Decant for 45-60 minutes if the wine is less than 5 years old, and 15-30 minutes for 5-10 years old.
- Gorgina Rosé: No decanting recommended, just pour and enjoy!
Pairing Recommendations
Pairing your wine with the right food can also elevate your tasting experience. Here are some suggestions:
- Cabernet Sauvignon: Pair with grilled meats, rich stews, or aged cheeses to complement the wine’s bold flavors.
- Red Blend: Enjoy with roasted vegetables, pasta dishes, or poultry to enhance the wine’s balanced profile.
- Rosé: Perfect with light salads, seafood, or soft cheeses, accentuating its refreshing and crisp notes.
By following these best practices, you’ll ensure that every bottle of Peace & Chaos wine is enjoyed to its fullest potential. Cheers to exceptional wines that honor exceptional people, and foster unforgettable moments!
